Description

Acharya Prashant explains that every form of excellence is a sign, a pointer towards the sky, and a rebellion against nature. When everyone is supposed to be the same, how does someone become special? The one who becomes special should be considered a representative of divinity, if not God himself. This is because nature does not create differences; it makes everything alike, such as all mice or all crows being similar. Therefore, the one who becomes different, special, or distinguished is a wonderful thing. Shri Krishna advises using this very fact: whoever appears different should be considered a representative of the divine entity. One should wonder how someone became different when everyone else is the same, concluding that some magic must have occurred. Shri Krishna says to consider the one who is most different as Krishna himself. For instance, among mountains, the highest one becomes venerable. Among weapon-bearers, the strongest and most victorious one becomes distinct. The one who is most different is on a completely different plane. They should have been like others, but they are not, which means there is something in them that is entirely different from nature. This is why in India, excellences are worshipped. As an example, the speaker mentions the cow. While all animals exhibit some level of aggressive behavior and restlessness, the cow shows the least of it and trusts easily. It was observed that the cow has an excellence that makes it different from other animals. Because of this, the cow was accepted as a symbol and representative of the divine entity, called 'Gau Mata' (Mother Cow). Shri Krishna says that wherever you find such an example of excellence or distinction, you should make it venerable and consider it a symbol of him. Excellence and distinction are the work of Krishna, as nature itself arranges for everything to be uniform. Nature has arranged for everything on this Earth to be neither excellent nor special. Shri Krishna is speaking of the exceptions to this rule. Wherever these exceptions are found, one should know that Krishna is present. He is essentially saying that Krishnatva (Krishna-consciousness) is nothing but the worship of excellence. Therefore, those whose lives lack any form of excellence or height are the ones in whose lives Krishna is nowhere to be found; they are merely living at the level of nature and the body. If there is spirituality in your life, it will be evident through distinction. If you are not excellent in any field of life, you are very far from Krishna.
