Acharya Prashant explains that the most auspicious deed is to not be afraid of the enemy when in the middle of a fight. He clarifies that this refers to the inner battle. The ego-sense wants to reach the Truth, or Shiva, but is misled, blocked, and bewitched by Prakriti (the material world). This is the fundamental battle. This inner battle can sometimes manifest as a worldly battle, but in essence, even the worldly battle is an inner one. The speaker describes this battle as the ego-sense being embattled. On one hand, it is called by the Truth, which is love. On the other hand, it is mesmerized, enthralled, or violently stopped by the forces of Prakriti, Maya, and the world, which represent conditioning. The ego is poised between Truth and Maya. Truth is attractive because it enlightens, while Maya is attractive because it enthralls, sometimes even more so. This inner battle can happen anywhere—in a laboratory, a battlefield, a legislative assembly, a household, a classroom, or on the streets. Irrespective of where the battle outwardly occurs, it is essentially an inner battle where the ego is caught between Truth and Maya. The speaker reiterates the words of Guru Gobind Sahib, stating one should not be afraid of the enemy when going to fight. Anyone fighting the force of Maya is a warrior. The one steadfastly fighting the inner battle is as much of a warrior as one shedding blood on an external battlefield; both should be praised for their courage and valor. The external battle is just more spectacular. The speaker emphasizes that in a spiritual battle, victory is not the outcome but the essence of the battle itself. To fight is to be victorious. Prakriti, being material, programs you to look only at the results or upshots. It is material and does not care for enlightenment. If you look for an ultimate victory or a final result like enlightenment, you are playing by Prakriti's rules and have walked into its trap, because it is Prakriti that teaches you to live by accomplishments. The victory the Guru speaks of is the fight itself.
