Description

Acharya Prashant explains that relationships are not inherently weak or strong; rather, they are either appropriate or inappropriate. A relationship that is right possesses its own strength, while an inappropriate one is inherently weak. He critiques the tendency to seek ways to strengthen existing bonds without questioning their fundamental nature or why they were formed in the first place. He uses the analogy of a butcher and a goat to illustrate that even a relationship based on capture and control can be 'strong,' but that does not make it right. Most human relationships are driven by selfishness and a desire to fill an inner void that only the divine can occupy. When people try to use others as a substitute for the divine, the relationship inevitably leads to frustration and violence because no human can fulfill that infinite need. He emphasizes that until one's mind is immersed in the Supreme Truth, all relationships will remain petty and narrow. The lack of connection with the divine leaves a 'God-sized hole' in the heart that people desperately try to fill with worldly objects and people, which never works. Acharya Prashant asserts that the divine demands a high price—the surrender of one's entire life and ego. Those who find this price too high settle for 'cheaper' worldly alternatives, leading to cycles of disappointment. He concludes that the divine is like the light of the eyes; one must first establish a relationship with the Truth to gain the vision necessary to see who is worth relating to in the world. If you are right within yourself by being immersed in the Truth, your relationships will naturally be right.
