Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the debate between destiny and free will is a mental creation of the ego seeking security. He asserts that both concepts are two sides of the same dualistic coin, where the ego attempts to preserve its individuality by either claiming control over the universe or defining itself as a separate entity controlled by it. In a state of silence or deep joy, these questions disappear because they only arise in a troubled, fragmented mind. He clarifies that true destiny is not a future event but our current, timeless nature, which is the non-dual silence of the self. He further discusses how human freedom is often misunderstood as the ability to fulfill personal desires or avoid obligations. True freedom, he argues, is not 'freedom to' or 'freedom from' something, but the dissolution of the ego that feels limited by the body and otherness. He uses the example of Shri Krishna and Arjuna to illustrate that real action occurs when the sense of doership is surrendered. When one stops identifying as the actor, they flow with existence like a boat on a river. He concludes that life should be lived in faith and being-ness rather than through the constant intervention of thought and intellectual analysis.
