Description

Acharya Prashant explains that there are two diametrically opposite ways of living: being totally immersed in the present moment out of love and enjoyment, or living for the sake of a future result. He asserts that the future is always imaginary and fleeting, existing only as a mechanical function of the conditioned brain. Intelligence, conversely, lies in living fully in the present moment and being self-aware rather than being influenced by external factors like media, society, or family. He highlights how the brain is conditioned by time and repetition, which advertisers and others use to become one's master, turning individuals into slaves of their own desires. He further discusses how the mind is preoccupied with the past and future, which are both unreal. He argues that the present is the seed from which the future germinates; therefore, being lost in thoughts of the future spoils the present and prevents a real future from ever arising. Intelligence is described as our essence and subject, not a product of evolution or information. It manifests as total attention where thoughts die. He critiques social conditioning that encourages sacrificing the present for a 'brilliant tomorrow,' leading to a life of boredom, frustration, and anxiety. He concludes that true energy and focus can only be found by standing outside the game of repetition and living in the only alive moment: the present.
