Description

Acharya Prashant explains that there are two types of fatigue. The first is purely biological and physical, as the human body functions like a machine with limited efficiency. This type of fatigue is natural and inevitable after physical exertion or long hours of work. The second type of fatigue is existential and psychological, arising from one's way of living. This fatigue occurs when a person realizes that despite knocking on a thousand doors, they have not found what they were truly seeking. It is the exhaustion of disappointment and the realization that every effort has led to frustration. Referring to a statement from the Quran, Acharya Prashant notes that the Divine never tires because the Divine is desireless and has nothing to achieve. One who is free from desire may experience physical exhaustion because of the body, but they do not suffer from existential fatigue. Most people experience a deep weariness in their later years, not because of physical labor, but because they feel they have wasted their lives on trivial pursuits. They sought fulfillment where it could never be found. To avoid this profound exhaustion of a wasted life, one must examine their ways and ensure they are not trading a precious life for something worthless.
