Description

Acharya Prashant critiques the 'Law of Attraction' as a dangerous and unfortunate belief system. He argues that since most people are driven by their desires and flaws, focusing on their thoughts only reinforces their bondages. If a person constantly thinks about physical desires or worldly objects, their actions and destiny will inevitably lead them toward those very things. He explains that desires typically arise from a sense of incompleteness, which in turn leads to further incompleteness. True desire should ideally arise from a state of completeness, where one remains whole regardless of whether the desire is fulfilled. Such a selfless desire can then become a worthy purpose for one's life. He further explains that thoughts are often not our own but are 'illusory' and can be easily manipulated by external influences, making a person a slave to whoever controls their thoughts. Acharya Prashant dismisses the popular concepts of 'positivity' and 'negativity' as mental constructs created by the ego. What one person calls positive, another might call negative based on their personal interests and perspective. He warns that 'positivity' is particularly dangerous because people embrace it without caution, whereas they might at least try to distance themselves from 'negativity'. Finally, he addresses the notion that 'whatever happens, happens for the best.' He clarifies that the quality of an experience depends entirely on the state of the individual, not the event itself. For a good person, everything is good; for a bad person, even a favorable event results in a bad outcome. He defines 'goodness' as the presence of understanding and surrender—representing knowledge and devotion. Conversely, 'evil' is characterized by unconsciousness and egoistic pride. He concludes that there is nothing beyond the combination of understanding and surrender in the spiritual journey.
