Description

Acharya Prashant explains the fundamental difference between skill and love, using the metaphor of a seed. Love is like a healthy seed; even if it currently lacks fruits or flowers, they will inevitably manifest because the seed is alive. Skill, on the other hand, is like the fruit. If love is present, proficiency and skills will naturally develop over time. However, having skills without love is meaningless, as it leaves a person spiritually dead. He emphasizes that skills are often temporary and dated, especially in a rapidly changing world, whereas love is a living, dynamic force that allows for continuous learning and adaptation. A machine or a robot can be programmed with a skill, but it cannot truly learn because learning is intrinsically linked to love. He further discusses how people often acquire skills out of necessity or greed, such as for a job, only to find those skills becoming redundant. In contrast, someone who loves a subject, like technology, will continue to learn and stay updated regardless of financial gain. Acharya Prashant advises that one should not focus on what they are currently good at, but rather on where their heart lies. Even if one lacks proficiency in a field they love, they will eventually master it because of their passion. He warns against the 'market-driven' mindset where individuals treat themselves as products to be sold to the highest bidder, often sacrificing their soul and happiness for social status or high-paying jobs. True love for one's work involves integrity and a refusal to compromise, even if it means facing hardships or starting from scratch.
