Description

Acharya Prashant explains that true help consists of only one thing: calming a person's mind and introducing them to the truth. If you have moved someone even one step toward the truth, you have truly helped them. While physical needs like food and blankets provide temporary relief, they do not kill the 'beggar' within. To truly liberate someone, one must awaken their inner truth and free them from the identity of being a beggar. He emphasizes starting with those closest to you rather than making the vastness of the world's problems an excuse for inaction. Progress happens step by step, and by taking the first step, the next becomes visible. Addressing the issue of global poverty, Acharya Prashant asserts that it is not due to a lack of resources but because wealth and resources are concentrated in the hands of a tiny percentage of the population. This inequality is driven by insecurity, greed, and a lack of spirituality. He notes that while nature provides for all creatures, humans have created a system of hoarding that leads to deprivation for others. He argues that spirituality is the only real solution to social and international problems, as it addresses the root cause of human suffering and greed. Regarding wealth and religious institutions, he clarifies that money itself is not bad, but it becomes a burden when it is hoarded instead of being used for righteous work. One should keep only what is necessary for sustenance and invest the rest in meaningful causes. He emphasizes that religious places like temples and gurdwaras were originally intended to awaken people and spark social and economic revolutions, though many have lost that purpose today. Finally, he advises that if one is fortunate enough to have a stable income, they should use their remaining time, intelligence, and energy for creative and selfless service to reduce the world's suffering.
