Acharya Prashant addresses a question about the regret of losing a beautiful relationship. He begins by stating that all relationships start from nature (Prakriti). The first relationship of a living being is with its parents, which is entirely natural and physical. The relationship with the mother is also completely physical, devoid of any higher values. Nature wants beings to be in relationships, and this is a fact that should neither be worshipped nor condemned. We are as we are, and we cannot deny or fight this fact. He explains that every living being is eager to form relationships and will do so. However, the impulse to form a relationship, the inner motivation, primarily arises from the physical center. This is a fact, and facts are neither to be worshipped nor condemned; they are simply to be accepted. We are like this. We cannot deny it, nor can we fight it. The problem is that while the game of nature is neither good nor bad in itself, for a human being, there is a danger in this game. The danger is that this game consumes time. Otherwise, there is no evil in this game. It is a beautiful thing. Leaves fall, flowers bloom—this is the game of nature. What is wrong with it? Rain falls, the sun shines like a ball of fire—what is wrong with it? The lion hunts the deer, the lion's stomach is full, the deer loses its life. What can we say is good or bad in this? It is a game that is going on. Acharya Prashant points out that the human being is a strange creature caught in this entire natural system. He is in nature, but he is not satisfied with the system of nature. He is natural, at least in appearance, but he is not satisfied with his natural system. This is the unique consciousness of man. At the level of consciousness, we are different from all animals. At the physical level, we are not. So, when nature talks to you, when nature raises feelings, thoughts, and tendencies in you, then this consciousness has to see what to do. You cannot stop nature; it will do its work. You may be a great scholar, but you will feel hungry, you will feel sleepy. The chemicals, the agents of nature, that are sitting inside, will do their work. You cannot stop them. What is in your control is that you, who are your original identity, which is called consciousness, can see what to do with all those waves and movements that are rising within you at the behest of nature. You cannot forbid nature, but you can choose how to respond to its directives. The first thing in knowledge is to understand that what is happening within us is, to a large extent, driven by our jungle past. When I say 'jungle,' I am not condemning it. The jungle is our old home; who can condemn it? But to be entangled in it is not right because if you get entangled, you will waste time. And you will be deprived of doing something higher.
