Description

Acharya Prashant explains that trust is a mental activity rooted in personal ego and self-interest. He argues that trusting Truth is as much a mistake as not trusting it, because trust is based on conditions, expectations, and the desire for personal gain. When people say they trust God, they are often seeking comfort or the fulfillment of desires. Such trust is fragile and inevitably leads to disappointment and atheism when expectations are not met. He distinguishes between trust and faith, stating that faith has no cause, no thought, and no separate existence. In true faith, one becomes silent and does not attempt to define or judge the Truth, as the Truth is beyond all labels like big or small, good or bad. He further elaborates that the act of praying or trusting often maintains a false sense of separation between the individual and the Divine. If only the Divine exists, then the one who trusts and the one who is trusted are not different. By maintaining a separate identity through trust, one sets the stage for their own ego to be hurt. Acharya Prashant suggests that instead of trying to understand a 'grand plan' or seeking security, one should become like the Divine—carefree and spontaneous. He references Kabir Saheb to illustrate a state of rest where one stops worrying about the future or the Divine's plans. True spiritual play involves abandoning the need for explanations and simply being in harmony with the current of existence.
