Description

Acharya Prashant clarifies the distinction between continuity and the ultimate reality. He explains that continuity and eternity are attributes of time, whereas the ultimate truth is beyond time and should not be described as continuous or eternal. He cautions against using terms that imply a flow or duration for the supreme, as it simply 'is'. The speaker emphasizes that the ultimate reality encompasses both presence and absence, the continuous and the discontinuous, and the real and the unreal. He warns against trapping the divine in dualities like good and bad, life and death, or mercy and cruelty, stating that these are merely partial images created by the mind. He further explains that true spiritual understanding involves total acceptance of everything as it is, without conditions. The mind often struggles to meditate because it sets conditions, seeking only the pleasant or the 'good' while rejecting the unpleasant. Acharya Prashant suggests that if everything happens by the divine will, then there is no specific divine choice, which translates to absolute freedom for the individual. This realization leads to a state of supreme independence where one is not bound by discipline or rituals. He concludes that those who try to bargain with the divine through worship and rituals often end up in despair when life does not meet their expectations, whereas true freedom lies in seeing the divine in both the beautiful and the ugly.
