Description

Acharya Prashant explains that true devotion must first be directed toward a supreme goal or the ultimate truth rather than a worldly partner. He observes that most people are essentially atheistic, believing only in what is physical, sensory, and material. Their relationships are often built on physical attraction, wealth, or status, which reinforces their belief that nothing exists beyond the material world. To lead a partner toward the truth, one must demonstrate such profound devotion to a higher purpose that the partner's importance in one's consciousness becomes secondary. This shift forces the partner to question what could be more attractive or valuable than themselves, thereby challenging their materialistic worldview. He further asserts that love cannot exist in the absence of spirituality. Most people mistake long-term physical or emotional attachments for love, but without a connection to the transcendental or the divine, such claims are false. A person who has not surrendered to the ultimate truth has not truly known love. The only way to transform a materialistic partner is not through words or attempts to 'spiritualize' physical intimacy, but by becoming so anchored in the truth that one's life serves as a shock to the partner's atheism. Only when they see their partner valuing liberation and truth above worldly objects can they begin to acknowledge the existence of a higher dimension.
