Description

Acharya Prashant explains that as long as an individual identifies with the physical body and form, the Supreme will also appear in a physical form. Idol worship is a tool for those who cannot yet perceive the formless, serving as a bridge to eventually reach the formless reality. He clarifies that while scriptures like the Vedas and traditions like Vedant, Islam, and Sikhism emphasize the formless, the human mind often requires a sensory medium to progress. However, idol worship is not the end goal; the ultimate aim is to dissolve into the attribute-less void. Both knowledge and devotion are functions of the ego, acting as paths through the 'forest' of the self. To reach the destination, the seeker must eventually transcend the roles of both the 'knower' and the 'devotee'. He further discusses that every method or technique is a form of cleverness of the ego, yet the Supreme cannot be reached through such cleverness. The true 'remedy' or method is not a specific ritual but a life lived with deep awareness and right response to every moment. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that one's own deep understanding and surrender, often guided by a Guru, provide the right direction. He addresses the feeling of being trapped in a 'well' of suffering, stating that the trap and the well are illusions born of false self-identification. Liberation is one's true nature, and the realization that one is not the 'frog in the well' but a being of the open sky is the key to breaking free. Satsang serves to remind the individual of this inherent freedom.
