Description

Acharya Prashant explains that Shri Krishna’s philosophy centers on desirelessness, which liberates the intellect from the confusion of rituals. He describes desirelessness as a state where one is indifferent to worldly distractions because they have found the ultimate truth, with love at its core. Using the example of a falling leaf, he illustrates Buddha’s realization that suffering arises not from the impermanence of life, but from the false desire for mortal things to be eternal. Humans often live in self-deception, clinging to fleeting pleasures and ignoring the reality of change. He further explains that Buddha acted as a spiritual physician, offering the Eightfold Path and the concept of rightness as a cure for suffering. Rightness is not a set of rigid rules or moral judgments but is the natural outcome of pure awareness. Instead of following preconceived notions of good and bad, one should practice impartial witnessing of their own actions, thoughts, and emotions. By simply observing a feeling like anger or greed as it arises, its influence is neutralized without the need for forceful suppression. Finally, Acharya Prashant emphasizes that awareness is the key to ending the mechanical way of living that leads to grief. He suggests that taking refuge in the Buddha, the truth, and a supportive community helps one remain conscious. When a person is fully aware of a situation as it happens, they are protected from the damage caused by unconscious reactions. This state of constant wakefulness ensures that one’s actions are always appropriate and aligned with the truth.
