Description

Acharya Prashant explains that it takes a great deal of love to show another person the mirror, to speak the truth to them. He states that there is a danger in speaking the truth because the other person might find it bitter. If they find it bitter, they might make you taste some bitterness in return. If you speak a bitter truth to someone, they might launch a bitter attack on you in return. You can only endure that attack if you have love within you. That is why, the speaker says, it takes a lot of love to speak the true and bitter words to another person. He elaborates that it would be very easy to speak sweet and false things, and the relationship would continue smoothly. If he hated the other person, he would let the relationship run its course with falsehoods. However, because he values and loves them, he will speak the truth. He clarifies that truth itself is not bitter, but it feels bitter. He says he knows the other person and that if he speaks one bitter word, they will speak five bitter words in return. But he is ready and will endure it, because there is love. Spirituality, he says, gives a great deal of respect to truth. The other person is very honorable, dear, and valuable to the extent that our relationship with them is one of truth. As for the other aspects of the relationship, if they are false, they can go to hell. They are just false, and one should not be concerned about garbage. Spirituality is very ruthless and indifferent towards any garbage or falsehood. It has a feeling of complete neglect for it, advocating to just throw the garbage away.
