Description

Acharya Prashant begins by stating that the situation in the room is a demonstration of how our life is spent. He explains that anyone who disturbs you cannot be your friend. However, our enemies are not the ones who disturb us; it is our friends sitting next to us who are our real enemies. The enemy is far away and cannot cause much harm. Our real harm is caused by those to whom we are attached, those who are in our homes and sitting beside us. He uses an analogy to clarify this point: if poison is labeled as poison, it cannot harm you much. The problem arises when poison is labeled as medicine; that is when you will die. Similarly, you are disturbing the attention of everyone around you, and they permit this because they consider you a friend. This process is an example for everyone. This is how our life passes. The people with whom we have formed relationships, the beliefs we have nurtured, and those to whom we have developed an attachment are the ones who cause our destruction. The one with whom there is no attachment will remain distant and cannot harm us. Acharya Prashant explains that it is those to whom we have given shelter and permission, for whom we have opened our doors to come and sit, who have ruined everything. He urges the audience to look carefully at the beliefs they have seated in their minds, to scrutinize and examine them. This is the entirety of HIDP (Help in Daily Problems). Science tells us to look at the fan, the light, the car, the engine. HIDP is also a science; it says to look at the external things, but also look at the one who is looking at them. The mind sees and understands the machine, but it is crucial to understand the understander itself—what it is doing and what goes on inside it. Understanding the mind is more important than understanding external things because your life is spent within it. All your doubts and sorrows are here. Everything that troubles and confuses life is here. Understanding this is more important, and that is what HIDP is for. It is so that you can become a human being before you become an engineer. He advises the students to take this opportunity seriously, to not miss a single session, and to come with their whole being, with their understanding, not just their physical body. He asks them to be fully present and attentive, as this is very important.
