Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the philosophical inquiry regarding why God created the world and man. He suggests that before asking 'why' a creator acted, one must first investigate the nature of the entities involved—the creator and the created. He uses a metaphorical example to illustrate that if we do not truly know what 'God' or 'man' refers to, the question of 'why' becomes an exercise in absurdity. He encourages a shift from intellectual curiosity about divine motives to a deep, personal inquiry into the nature of the self and the truth. When the questioner changes through self-inquiry, the original, superficial questions naturally dissolve. Regarding scriptural verses that describe God's creation and blessings as limitless, Acharya Prashant explains that these are expressions of profound gratitude rather than literal or theoretical descriptions. He describes the universe as an inconceivable expanse constantly transformed by infinite time, a realization that leads saints to speak of limitlessness. He emphasizes that the ability of a small human being to perceive and speak of such immensity is itself a divine blessing. Such verses cannot be understood intellectually; they must be resonated with through a sense of thankfulness and a lack of personal grievance. Finally, he discusses the nature of decision-making and opinions. He asserts that all opinions, whether they seem to come from one's own mind or from others, are essentially 'foreign' because they are rooted in biological or societal conditioning. He advises that when faced with crucial life decisions, one should approach them with the humility of not knowing. By ruthlessly questioning borrowed certainties and conditioned thoughts, clarity and light emerge on their own, independent of the ego's influence.
