Acharya Prashant explains the profound meaning behind Guru Nanak Dev Ji's words, emphasizing that silence of the mind cannot be achieved through mere physical or mental efforts. He points out that while people often accept that the mind is difficult to quiet, they struggle with the idea that even deep meditative states or prolonged silence do not guarantee the attainment of the Truth. This resistance stems from the ego, which views spiritual practice as a transaction or a feat of personal competence. The speaker highlights that many individuals approach spirituality with the same competitive and acquisitive mindset they use in the material world, seeking to 'earn' spiritual knowledge or 'attain' the soul as if it were a trophy or a certificate of merit.
