Description

Acharya Prashant explains that what people commonly refer to as knowing right and wrong is merely an awareness of social labels and moral codes imposed by society. True knowledge of right and wrong arises from within and is characterized by a state of choicelessness, where no alternative to the right action remains. When one truly knows what is right, there is no room for doubt, hesitation, or social conformity; the action becomes inevitable and absolute, like a line carved in stone. Most people merely follow instructions or rote learning, such as being told not to lie or to be non-violent, yet they continue to act contrary to these teachings because the realization has not emerged from their own being. He emphasizes that real understanding involves a level of commitment where one is willing to sacrifice their life rather than compromise. Using the example of young rabbits striving for freedom despite being provided with food and safety, he illustrates that the soul's nature is to seek liberation at any cost. This state of certainty and lack of compromise is found in true love, total surrender to something greater, and in following one's 'Dharma'. Acharya Prashant defines 'Dharma' not as rituals or traditions, but as the clear realization of one's true nature and acting in accordance with that self-knowledge. When one reaches this depth of understanding, they become 'compelled' by their own realization to act rightly, leaving no possibility for turning back.
