Description

Acharya Prashant explains that consciousness is inherently dualistic, consisting of the observer and the observed. He describes how the observer often seeks peace and fulfillment in external objects and experiences, but this search is futile because it is based on the false premise that something is missing. This constant seeking in the world leads to impure consciousness, which is defined as consciousness mixed with the limited, the material, and the worldly. He clarifies that while the Soul or Self (Atma) remains unaffected by external influences, consciousness is highly susceptible to them. Impure consciousness is characterized by the pursuit of sensory pleasures like meat-eating, intoxication, and lust, which offer only momentary gratification and false promises of happiness, ultimately leading to further suffering and bondage.
