Description

Acharya Prashant interprets Kabir Saheb’s couplet, explaining that "sleeping" signifies mental unconsciousness and ignorance, while "eating" represents the pursuit of desires and consumption. He observes that most people spend their lives either in a state of deep unconsciousness or in a frantic race to fulfill worldly wants. Consequently, a life as precious as a diamond is wasted for nothing. This leads to a state where life is viewed as a tragedy or a burdensome accident, leaving individuals fearful, miserable, and longing for the relief of death. He explains that suffering arises from constant expectation and the desire for something more. People feel cheated by life because their specific desires are not met, yet they fail to see that "wrong" things only enter through the doors of their own expectations. True inner health is characterized by silence and a lack of seeking. When one is fulfilled, even the thought of "not wanting anything" does not arise. He emphasizes that the true goal of life is not achievement or acquisition, but the expression of one's own depth, much like a child dancing out of pure joy. Finally, Acharya Prashant discusses the importance of faith and openness to the unknown. He likens living to receiving a surprise gift; demanding security and specific outcomes robs life of its freshness and vitality. By letting go of the ego and the need for planning, one allows life to unfold naturally. He concludes that the world is perpetually new, but this newness is only visible when one stops clinging to old perspectives and allows themselves to be transformed from within.
