Description

Acharya Prashant explains that what people call love (Ishq) is nothing more than an attraction to superficial qualities like someone's fragrance, style, earrings, clothes, laughter, or glance. He posits that without these external attributes, this so-called love would not exist. He describes these attractions as attacks on the senses, which people naively mistake for an invitation. This misinterpretation is likened to being beaten up while thinking one is being honored. The speaker asserts that these attractions are not for one's amusement or entertainment but are, in fact, a form of 'internal beating,' despite feeling pleasurable at first. He uses an analogy of a weak wrestler, 'Tuiyan Singh,' being overpowered by a seemingly weak but internally strong opponent, 'Gama Pehlwan,' to illustrate this point. People may appear strong externally, but they are internally weak, easily toppled by the slightest push from beauty or youth. This is a sign of weakness, not strength. When this 'beating' occurs, one might feel they are receiving great hospitality, but the painful reality only becomes apparent after weeks, months, or years, leading to despair, suicidal thoughts, or a desire for revenge. Using another analogy of a man on a runaway horse, Acharya Prashant explains that while the rider may appear to be in control, it is the horse that dictates the path. Similarly, entering a relationship does not mean one is the master; what happens next is determined by the object of one's attachment. He concludes that one must develop the strength to understand the 'inside story' because what appears on the surface is a complete lie. The one who is being ridden is not the master. The one who is being ridden is a slave.
