Acharya Prashant addresses a seeker who claims that despite practicing meditation, pranayama, and studying scriptures, his ego continues to grow. The seeker believes the path of devotion is superior because it awakens love and grace, yet he struggles with his ego. Acharya Prashant explains that as long as one has reasons or justifications for choosing the path of devotion, the ego remains firmly in control. The ego is defined as the entity that likes, dislikes, and makes choices based on perceived benefits. If devotion is chosen because it seems profitable or pleasant, it is merely a mental construct and a calculation of the ego, rather than true devotion.
