Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the moment one wants to direct or channel their creativity for a productive outcome, it is lost. He states that true creativity is always purposeless and profitless. The desire to extract profit from creativity causes it to disappear, as it is not meant for profit-mongers. Creativity is described as a gift, and one does not sell a gift. If a person becomes a peddler of the gifts they have received, they will stop receiving them. The speaker identifies the idea of channeling creativity for organizational good as a concept from popular culture and corporations. He asserts that creativity cannot be channelized because it is "God in action." To attempt to channel creativity is akin to trying to master God, which is the way of the ego. The ego, with its impetuousness, wants to lay its "dirty hands" upon everything, seeking to control and channel not only creativity but also truth and God. This profane mindset extends to all sacred aspects of life, such as love, which the corporate world also tries to exploit for commercial purposes. Creativity, in itself, is the highest joy. Therefore, seeking another follow-up profit from it is illogical. If it is already the highest joy, nothing can be subsequent to or higher than it. To do so would be like asking how to utilize a lover to gain more profits. The speaker criticizes this profane mindset that treats everything as an object to be exploited. He clarifies that what is often called creativity in business is merely manipulation and clever tactics, not true creativity. True creativity is something astounding and unimaginable, like the very existence of a conscious, understanding human being. It is the emergence of something beyond logic and construction, like an Upanishad or the song of a mystic, which arises from the unknown.
