Description

Acharya Prashant begins by quoting Mirza Ghalib, stating that through crying and love, one becomes audacious and is washed so thoroughly that they become pure. He emphasizes that this cleansing is necessary, where purity means cleanliness. He explains that true knowledge often comes through harsh experiences. Using an analogy, he says if you invite him and serve chicken tikka, and he hits you with a stick, only then will you understand the real issue. This is how knowledge dawns. He adds that if you hit someone four times and they hit you back forty times, you will realize that the world is insubstantial. When you are shot, knowing the principle of linear momentum is of no importance; what matters is whether you have the courage to take the bullet. Knowledge is the resolve that if one has to know, one will live it. The choice is to either fight or rot. A questioner shares that since coming into the speaker's presence, she has realized that she only understands knowledge when she experiences it, otherwise it feels like abstract information that her 'thick' intellect cannot grasp. Initially, many things seemed clear, which boosted her ego. However, through experiences, she now understands things from her past that she didn't before, and past wrong decisions are now clearly visible. She explains that she teaches her students to choose subjects they can live passionately, as she understands things better when they are logical and tangible, finding concepts like magnetic fields difficult to comprehend. She asks if it's the same with spiritual knowledge, where some understand it quickly due to their nature, while she needs experience. Acharya Prashant clarifies that spiritual knowledge is not like a magnetic field that can be demonstrated. It is something that cannot be understood without bringing it into one's life. It is not like a mathematical problem that can be solved with an equation. This is a matter that you will only understand by living it, which will reveal who is truly in deep water. The knowledge you receive here is not the end, but the beginning. From here, your learning starts. The knowledge from scriptures or a guru is the start of the experiment and effort. He explains that real knowledge is gained when you apply what you've learned to your life, face the resulting challenges and suffering, and bear the cost. He gives an example of someone posting his teachings online and getting abused for it, saying, "Now he will gain knowledge." He quotes Kabir Saheb: "One who laughs and plays does not find the beloved; those who find him, find him by crying. If God is found by laughing and singing, then who would be the unfortunate one?" This means that if the beloved could be found through fun and games, then no one would be left unfortunate or separated. Acharya Prashant further illustrates this with the example of Meera. Her choosing Krishna and Rana's order to drink poison always go together. If Krishna has truly entered your life, the proof is that Rana will be standing with poison. Similarly, if a saint has truly entered your life, the entire community will stand against you with sticks. Knowledge is not something to be tucked away in a pocket or hidden in the head. The moment of knowledge is when a drop of your living blood meets the dust of the battlefield of life. Knowledge comes with destruction; if you can bear the destruction, you have knowledge. The path of knowledge is not for cowards; it is a path of courage, conviction, and the willingness to pay the price.
