Description

Acharya Prashant explains that spirituality is not a game of imagination between a fictional seeker and a fictional truth, but a necessary remedy for the very real suffering experienced by the individual. He challenges the questioner's intellectual assertion that everything is an illusion, pointing out that if one truly understood the illusory nature of the self, they would not experience pain, anxiety, or attachment. The reality of one's suffering proves that they still regard themselves as a real entity rather than a mental construct. Therefore, spiritual practice is essential as long as one remains bound by the cycles of pleasure and pain. Regarding the concept of 'dwelling in Vasudeva,' Acharya Prashant clarifies that it signifies moving beyond the self-centered preoccupation of the mind. Usually, an individual is constantly 'dwelling' within their own ego, where every thought, worry, and relationship revolves around the 'I'. To dwell in the Divine means to become less serious about this ego and to relegate it to its proper, minor place. It is the transition from being self-absorbed to being an observer of the mind's activities. Finally, he addresses the persistence of duality. He explains that while duality will always exist for the physical body and the mind—as they are part of the material world—it does not have to remain a reality for the conscious self. One achieves liberation from duality not by making the world disappear, but by viewing the world and the mind's reactions as a mere spectacle or a child's play. By maintaining the stance of a witness, one can remain unaffected by the fluctuations of the mind, much like an adult observing the tantrums of a child without becoming distressed.
