Acharya Prashant asserts that it is impossible to be spiritual and consume animals because spirituality is rooted in complete awareness and non-fragmentation. A spiritual person is not blind to what is on their plate and understands the physical and mental origins of their food. He suggests that if one were to look into the eyes of an animal while slaughtering it, they would see their own deep innocence reflected back. To harm an animal is to harm oneself, as the animal represents the primitive, unconditioned part of the human being that is often suppressed by social conditioning and intellect.
