Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the world exists only for the self (Aham) and has no independent or objective existence. He argues that the appearance and quality of the world depend entirely on the state of the individual's mind; for instance, physical states like thirst or mental states like joy or sorrow completely alter one's perception of the surroundings. Even the belief that the world existed before one's birth is a perception that only arises once the self is present. Therefore, the world and the self are interdependent and arise together. The speaker clarifies the relationship between the self, the world, and the Divine (Paramatma). Since the self and the world are mutually dependent—like two people holding hands to stay afloat—they must both rely on a common, hidden source, which is Paramatma. He dismisses childish or mythological depictions of God as a person sitting in the clouds. Instead, he describes the Divine as the fundamental basis of all existence. Because all of nature (Prakriti) originates from this source, every particle of the universe is rooted in the Divine. Acharya Prashant describes nature (Prakriti) as a jailer that provides just enough intelligence for survival and reproduction but restricts the intelligence needed for total liberation. He explains that while the human self desires freedom, it often seeks it on its own terms, which becomes the primary obstacle to liberation. He emphasizes that the distinction between the inner self and the outer world is an arbitrary boundary created by the ego's identification with the body. Ultimately, while nature serves as a medium to realize the Divine, Shri Krishna explains in the Bhagavad Gita that the Divine transcends material elements.
