Acharya Prashant explains that the Guru is helpless in love. As long as the disciple remains a gross being, the body-mind system, all that will reach them are words. The Guru desperately tries to convey something beyond words, but whether this real thing reaches the disciple depends more on the disciple than the Guru. Superficially, the Guru sends words, and if the disciple is superficial, that is all they will receive. Deeply, the Guru sends silence, and a deeply connected disciple will relate to that silence. Throughout history, many have received only words from teachers; the one who receives the real company of the Guru is rare, as most people are satisfied with words. The speaker defines love in two ways: first, as the ego's attempt to reach the unreachable Truth, and second, as the Truth's difficult attempt to reach the ego. From the Truth's perspective, it cries out in helplessness, "It's only words, and words are all I have to take your heart away," because it is trying to communicate the incommunicable to the ego. The speaker notes that he experiences this helplessness every day. Regarding the concept of a "brand new story," the speaker clarifies that the teacher talks so that the disciple's old stories can end and something new, fearless, and lovely can begin. The newness, trueness, fearlessness, and clarity in this new story is the Guru. This new story is with the Guru, who is one's real Self. Unlike old stories that involved separation from other entities, the new story is about oneness with the Self. If the Guru is treated as a separate entity, the story remains old because the sense of "twoness" persists. A brand new story requires the total transformation or dissolution of the old self. For this to occur, the world must first lose its glory and charm. As long as the world seems alluring, one will not end the old stories. Spirituality is for the super-intelligent and super-observant who no longer wish to be duped. One must realize and feel humiliated by their slavery to the world. Only when the world loses its glory can the doors of Truth open.
