Description

Acharya Prashant uses the metaphor of a kite carrying a piece of meat to explain the nature of worldly competition and spiritual freedom. He points out that if you pursue what everyone else desires, you will inevitably face intense competition and conflict, much like the kite being chased by hundreds of crows. True spiritual seeking involves pursuing that which is rare and unique to one's own being. Because the world is obsessed with superficial and fake things, there is no competition for the authentic and the real. He illustrates this with the example of a crowded cinema hall for a low-quality film versus an empty hall for a masterpiece, and the difference between a bull working in a field and a free-roaming bull (saand). He emphasizes that spirituality is not about reciting verses or attending sessions, but about how one lives and responds to life's challenges. He argues that being 'useless' to the exploitative demands of the world is a form of freedom. If you are useful to others' worldly desires, you will be exploited; by becoming 'unusable' for their petty gains, you protect your own essence. Acharya Prashant encourages the listener to have the courage to follow their own heart, even if it leads to mistakes or social disapproval. He explains that while both worldly and spiritual paths involve suffering and risks, the spiritual path offers the possibility of total liberation from suffering, whereas the worldly path only leads to more bondage. True love, he concludes, sometimes means refusing to give people what they want if what they want is harmful to them.
