Description

Acharya Prashant explains that spirituality is like a fire burning within, an ignited consciousness. This consciousness burns so intensely because it needs light, and since it cannot find light from any external source, it says, "I will burn myself for light." It does get the complete light, but only by burning and annihilating itself. When one desperately needs light and the world is not capable of providing it, one's consciousness says, "I will burn myself." This is self-immolation. In the light that emerges from this self-immolation, the consciousness exclaims, "Wow!" It is like the last breath of a dying man saying, "Wow! This is the light I wanted." But that light can only be obtained by burning oneself. Spirituality is for such people, not for those who find happiness in a masala dosa. One must picture those who would sit by a river for years. What stubborn, restless, and eager people they must have been. It is not the work of a content person to go to a jungle or a riverbank, where there are wild animals, no certainty of food, and no shelter, to attain something non-physical and transcendental. He is seeking the Supreme Self, which has no name, no form, no scent, and no shape, and for that, he endures all the troubles of the world. Such a burning consciousness, such a stubborn mind, and such fortitude are needed. These are the only ones who have truly lived, who were truly born. The rest are as if they were never born; they remained as if dead throughout their lives. A madness, an obsession is required. If that madness is not present in life, you are a very dead person. If you are living a well-organized, adjusted, and balanced life, then why is it even running?
