Description

Acharya Prashant interprets the teachings of Kabir Saheb regarding two types of individuals: the poet and the shaven-headed. The poet represents those driven by their own imagination and ego, falsely believing their thoughts are their own. The shaven-headed are those who blindly follow rituals and social traditions. He asserts that the poet is more dangerous because their ego prevents them from realizing they are bound by their own mind, whereas the ritualist at least acknowledges they are following external rules. Both remain bound, either by social norms or by the whims of the mind, and neither knows true liberation. He further explains the symbolism of shaving the mind. Just as hair serves as a physical extension for protection, deception, and attraction, the mind's hair represents its desires for expansion, ambition, and a false self-image. A mind that is shaven has removed these projections and reached a state of total security in truth. Such a mind is described as barren or inert, meaning it no longer reacts to worldly temptations or sensory objects. It does not seek to impress or deceive others because it is already fulfilled. Finally, the speaker emphasizes Kabir Saheb's advice to seek the company of only those who have shaven their minds. He points out that most people are surrounded by individuals whose minds are constantly flickering and reactive, leading to a life of restlessness. To find and appreciate the company of a truly liberated person, one must first undergo an internal change. Without this transformation, a person with a shaven mind will not even seem attractive or relevant to an ego-driven individual.
