Acharya Prashant begins by referencing the film 'Anand', recalling the dialogue between Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan about whether one wants a 'big' life or a 'long' life. He poses this question to the audience: "Do you want a big life or a long one?" If you want a long life, then be filled with negativity. The more doubtful you are, the more progress you will make, as nature has arranged it so. You will achieve tremendous progress, but the more doubtful you are, the poorer the quality of your life will be. You have to see whether you want 50 years of joy or 100 years filled with doubt and suspicion. This is a choice that every person has to make. There is security in doubt, and in joy, there is an insecure thrill. You have to decide whether you want secure pain or insecure joy. Whatever you want, you can take it. But understand that being doubtful, being filled with despair, or being surrounded by apprehensions is not futile. It has its utility in nature, in preserving your body. That is why such tendencies are so widespread. Every person you see is apprehensive, scared, and filled with doubt. There must be a reason why everyone is in this state. It is because our genes are like that. Now, you have to see whether you want to live by understanding or by your genes. If you live by your genes, you will live long. If you live by understanding, it's uncertain how long you will live, how much money you will earn, or how much social respect you will get, but you will experience joy. He concludes by quoting Sant Tulsidas: "Trusting in Ram, Tulsi sleeps fearlessly. The unforeseen will not happen, and what is destined will happen." This doesn't mean Ram will physically protect you from a wolf; it means the blessing of Ram is that the fear of the wolf will be removed from your mind.
