Description

Acharya Prashant explains that while devotion or bhakti is the highest possible state and the mother of all realization, it is often misunderstood and practiced as mere desire. He clarifies that devotion is the love for liberation and that which is beyond the mind, whereas desire is an attraction toward 'mind stuff' or the ego's own projections. He emphasizes that bhakti and knowledge are inseparable because one must love understanding and freedom to attain them. He warns that worshiping something arising from the human mind or imagination is not true devotion but is instead a form of ego-worship that is anti-spiritual. He further notes that many people blindly follow rituals without studying the true nature of devotion found in the teachings of saints like Kabir Saheb, Guru Nanak Dev, or the Bhakti Sutras. He asserts that mind stuff can be useful or useless, but it can never be divine or worthy of worship because the sacred must be beyond the mind. Acharya Prashant encourages seekers to commit themselves fully to something beyond the mind and to learn the real nature of bhakti from authentic sages and saint poets to avoid being fooled by their own mental creations.
