Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the common question of what one should do when faced with life's problems or when seeking spiritual progress. He explains that when a person asks "what should I do?" in any context—whether it concerns material possessions, family, or spiritual practices—the answer is not to start something new. He argues that as long as the doer remains unchanged, any new action will merely be an extension of old patterns. He uses the analogy of a blindfolded person who continues to stumble regardless of which direction they are told to walk. If the person remains blindfolded, changing direction does not solve the fundamental problem of stumbling. He emphasizes that instead of seeking new methods or solutions, one must pause and observe their current actions. The very fact that a person is asking what to do indicates the presence of a problem, which in turn signifies that their current actions are flawed. Acharya Prashant asserts that the individual themselves is the root of the problem. Therefore, one must stop the urge to find a new escape or a different path and instead investigate why they are currently stumbling. Real change and truly novel action can only occur once the 'blindfold' of the current self is removed through self-observation and understanding.
