Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the voice of the mind and the voice of the heart are easily distinguishable through their distinct characteristics. The voice of the mind is rooted in fear, greed, and conditioning. It focuses on the future, grand ambitions, and accomplishments. It is a logical, calculative, and reasonable voice, much like a businessman concerned with profit and loss. This voice is borrowed from society, parents, and media, and it often speaks like a shouting dictator, demanding rehearsals and social etiquette. It views the world as a dangerous place and urges one to accumulate and take from others. In contrast, the voice of the heart is soft, unreasonable, and rooted in the beauty of the present. It does not offer arguments or logic because it represents the truth, which requires no explanation. Acharya Prashant describes the heart as being like a happy drunkard who sings in intoxication, ignoring social etiquette and civilization. While the mind calls the heart stupid, the heart possesses an original wisdom that the mind can never attain. The heart encourages giving, love, and spontaneous action, such as dancing without rehearsing or needing external music. It provides a sense of being at home and safe, regardless of external circumstances. Choosing the heart requires courage because the mind will attempt to terrify the individual with logic and fear of the unknown. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that anything done out of fear or greed will only lead to more confusion and lack of peace. He advises that when faced with life decisions, such as choosing between further studies or a job, one must investigate whether the choice is being made out of love or out of fear and ambition. Only actions born from love and the heart can lead to true happiness and peace.
