Description

A questioner recounts an incident where he encountered a woman suffering from swelling all over her body and a sensation of being pricked by needles. Despite consulting doctors, including at AIIMS, all her reports were normal, and her condition did not improve. Believing it to be a case of tantric influence, the questioner diagnosed her with being possessed by three spirits. He performed a ritual involving a cloth effigy, which he claimed would absorb the spirits. He then created a fire using potassium and glycerin, making the woman believe it was a magical act. The woman fainted, and upon waking, felt much lighter and better. Later, the questioner revealed to her that it was all a trick involving a chemical reaction and that there was no magic or spirit possession. However, after ten days, the woman's symptoms returned. The questioner asks Acharya Prashant if he made a mistake by revealing the truth. Acharya Prashant responds that while the questioner's intentions were good, a better approach would have been to bring the woman to a state where she herself could question her delusion. He explains that such beliefs are prevalent in the Muslim community as well, sometimes even more intensely than among Hindus. He attributes this to the oppression and lack of education among the uneducated and downtrodden classes, especially women. He states that such phenomena are a result of the accumulated suffering, oppression, and frustrated desires of people who lack education and a voice. This, he says, is a rebellion against their suppression. The woman gains importance and attention through her supposed affliction, which she otherwise lacks. Acharya Prashant asserts that the root of all these problems is the failure of the Indian state to provide proper education, justice, prosperity, and equality to its citizens over the past 70-75 years. He criticizes the current education system as a joke, stating that even those with degrees are not truly educated. He argues that if one generation, from age 5 to 25, is given proper, rigorous education, India will become a leading nation in the world in just 20 years. He emphasizes that education is the only solution to superstition, bigotry, and all societal ills. He concludes by stating that a knowledge-based society is needed, where books and knowledge are given the respect they deserve, equivalent to temples.
