Description

Acharya Prashant explains a couplet by Shri Tulsidas, which states that making a home in the world leads to spiritual loss, and renouncing the home also leads to loss. He clarifies that if one considers the world as their permanent home, they miss the Truth and become hollow like a clay statue—outwardly physical but inwardly empty. Such a life is mechanical and lacks true life force, similar to a blacksmith's bellows that move but do not breathe. Conversely, if one renounces the world out of ego, claiming to belong only to the Divine while still identified with the body, it becomes hypocrisy. The speaker emphasizes that Truth is found neither in the household nor in the forest, but 'in between,' meaning one must live in the world without being enslaved by it or by false concepts of renunciation. He further discusses that the path to the Divine is not through changing one's location or waiting for a future time, but by starting exactly where one is. Seeking a 'better' environment or waiting for the right moment is often a trick of the ego to avoid transformation. Acharya Prashant uses the analogy of a child going to its mother; the child does not wait to get clean before going to the mother, but goes as they are, and the mother takes care of the cleaning. Similarly, one should turn toward Shri Ram immediately, regardless of their current state or location, as the Divine is omnipresent and not confined to specific physical or mental constructs.
