Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the relationship between Shri Krishna and Radha should ideally be understood as equivalent to the relationship between Shiva and Shakti. He notes that in popular culture, this bond has been significantly distorted and reduced to carnal, man-woman love, which he finds unfortunate and unacceptable. This distortion occurs because, unlike Shakti, who is well-documented in scriptures like the Upanishads and the Shakta Marg, the character of Radha lacks a strong scriptural foundation. She is scarcely mentioned in the primary texts dedicated to Shri Krishna, such as the Srimad Bhagvat Puran and the Harivansh Puran. This lack of scriptural rigidity allowed later generations to use their imagination to inflate and misrepresent her character with stories that lack spiritual depth. Acharya Prashant emphasizes that Radha Devi deserves great dignity and respect, and her depiction in religious gatherings often fails to provide any meaningful spiritual lesson. He concludes that her relationship with Shri Krishna must not be viewed as anything lower than the divine union of Shiva and Shakti.
