Description

Acharya Prashant explains the distinction between actions originating from the Guru and those originating from the disciple, referencing the teachings of Kabir Saheb. He states that action coming from the Guru is true action or desireless action, whereas action coming from the disciple is merely activity or selfish action. While the disciple appears to be the one performing the task with their body and mind, if the source of the action is the Guru—representing the Soul—the disciple remains a non-doer. The essence of the path of action is to ensure that one does not remain the egoistic doer of the deeds performed through them. He emphasizes that the observer must look beyond the surface of an action to identify its source. Just as there is a vast difference between a person walking in their sleep and one walking consciously, there is a profound difference in actions based on whether they stem from the ego or from love and truth. When an action is born of love, such as the offerings of Shabari or Sudama to Shri Rama and Shri Krishna, it is accepted as a blessing regardless of its outward form. The Guru is described as being free of intention and motivation, as even the purest intention can be a form of greed. True discernment involves understanding the limits of one's efforts and knowing when to stop, as life and the world are inherently limited by time. Finally, he addresses the concept of letting go, suggesting that things do not fall away because of logical arguments or forced effort, but rather because they lose their utility and the person simply forgets to hold onto them. When something is no longer meaningful in one's life, the effort required to maintain it ceases, and it naturally disappears.
