Acharya Prashant advises a woman who wants to quit her job to work for animal welfare. He encourages her to move forward, asking her to repeatedly consider the benefits at two levels: the personal and the societal. At a personal level, she will feel lighter, happier, and her sense of guilt will diminish. He explains that watching something wrong happen without taking action leads to a feeling of guilt, and by doing something, this guilt will be reduced. These are her personal benefits. The second benefit is for the animals themselves. He states that both benefits are necessary, but priority must be given to the larger social cause, which includes the animals, whom he refers to as 'animal people'. The work she does should benefit her, but it must benefit the animals even more. He cautions that social activism can sometimes become a way to make oneself feel good, an excuse for the ego. For instance, one might provide a small benefit to society but gain a large ego boost in return. This should be avoided. He also warns her that she must not fail, because if she does, she will become a negative example for thousands of others who might want to take a similar path. People will use her failure as an excuse not to do the right thing. Therefore, she must not allow her resolution to have a bad outcome. If she enters this field, she must do so with caution, alertness, and her full strength. Addressing the concern about powerful opposing forces, Acharya Prashant explains that those who stand for falsehood are inherently weak and know it, which is why they organize themselves. Truth, on the other hand, is inherently powerful. He argues that the power lies in truth itself. The problem is that the truth is not being propagated. He points out that the minds of people are influenced by organized propaganda, and this must be countered with the propaganda of truth. The fight is not with violence but with knowledge and awareness. People are ignorant of the harm meat consumption causes to their bodies, the environment, and their own spiritual well-being through the loss of compassion and love. The work is to bring this light to them.
