Acharya Prashant explains that if you are listening to a song, you should listen to it completely to understand what it is saying. A song is helpless and cannot hide its message. If you have a habit of listening to songs, you should listen to them fully. When you listen to a song in its entirety, one of two things will happen: either the song will destroy you, or the song itself will be destroyed, and you will never listen to it again. The problem arises when you listen to a song but do not truly hear it, continuing to listen without understanding what it says. The content of many songs is so shallow that if you were to truly understand their rudeness, ignorance, darkness, and stench, you would be unable to listen to them again. Conversely, if a song has substance and originates from a truthful place, you will become so captivated that you will never be able to leave it. One of these two outcomes is certain. You have the power to understand, so whatever you do, you should do it with understanding, pausing to reflect. The speaker identifies one enemy: self-confidence, the assumption that 'I know.' He asserts that we know nothing; we don't even know our own right hand, the bed we've slept on for years, or the face we've seen in the mirror for decades. One must completely remove the arrogance of knowing. As soon as this is done, you will be saved from the conspiracy you have created against your own ability to see. Our eyes, including the inner eye of understanding, can see everything. The primary obstacle or screen that prevents this seeing is our self-confidence—the belief that 'I already know.' He advises looking at all aspects of life—your job, food, relationships, and possessions—as if you don't know what they are, with complete innocence and ignorance. This will make everything clear.
