Description

Acharya Prashant explains the distinction between facts, imagination, and truth. He defines facts as observations that do not depend on individual personality differences; for instance, if everyone agrees a structure is a wall, it is a fact. In contrast, imagination is heavily dependent on one's personality, personal interests, and biases, leading to subjective interpretations like calling something 'sin' or 'virtue'. He notes that the more one's personality is involved in knowing something, the more clouded their vision becomes. A person obsessed with the personal and individual is akin to being mentally unstable, as their reality is entirely subjective and not shared by others. Acharya Prashant further distinguishes between a saint and a person who is mentally unstable. While both may appear similar because they transcend ordinary facts, the unstable person stands in opposition to facts, whereas the saint sees the facts but perceives something deeper beyond them. For example, Kabir Saheb would recognize a cloth as a cloth to sell it in the market, yet simultaneously see it as something divine. Acharya Prashant advises that in daily life, one should strive to live entirely in facts rather than imagination. By fulfilling the duty of living truthfully in facts, one becomes eligible for the higher truth to reveal itself.
