Description

Acharya Prashant explains that physical suffering is an inherent part of human existence, starting from the very moment of birth. He asserts that spirituality is not the absence of pain, but the art of living with it. Suffering only transforms into misery when one refuses to accept it, often due to false notions of constant happiness sold by markets, advertisements, and even some religious institutions. These entities create an expectation that life should only consist of pleasure, leading to conflict when inevitable pain arises. True joy, or bliss, is found when one stops resisting pain and remains unaffected by the duality of pleasure and pain. He emphasizes that pain possesses a depth and truth that superficial happiness can never provide, noting that great works like the Upanishads or poetry are born from such depth. Human nature is inherently predisposed to situations that cause pain. Acharya Prashant advises that when the fruits of past tendencies manifest as suffering, one should accept them with humility rather than resisting and creating new cycles of karma. Regarding global conflicts or the suffering of others, he suggests that instead of focusing on external events, one must first purify their own vision and understand their own mind. He concludes that the same human tendencies that cause internal restlessness are responsible for external wars, and understanding oneself is the key to understanding the world.
