Description

Acharya Prashant explains that suffering is not merely the absence of something desired, but rather the presence of something unnecessary and out of place. He describes suffering as a state of inner disharmony where one holds onto things that provide no real benefit. While common perception suggests that suffering arises from not getting what one wants, deeper inquiry reveals that anything acquired eventually becomes a source of pain. This happens because the individual, or the 'Jiva', perceives themselves as incomplete and weak, leading them to desperately cling to external objects, relationships, and identities to fill an inner void. These external things are governed by the laws of nature and randomness, making them inherently unstable and beyond one's control.
