Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the quality of an action cannot be judged by its results because the chain of cause and effect is infinite and unpredictable. He uses the analogy of a snooker table with infinite balls and no friction to illustrate that one action leads to endless consequences that are impossible to track. Therefore, focusing on the fruits of labor is futile. Instead, the righteousness of an action should be determined by its source or center. If an action arises from fear, insecurity, or self-interest, it is inherently flawed, regardless of how beneficial it appears externally. Conversely, an action rooted in selflessness and love is auspicious, even if it lacks a grand outward form. He emphasizes that neither the size of an organization nor its perceived humanitarian output validates its spiritual worth; only the internal state from which the work originates matters. Regarding faith, Acharya Prashant clarifies that true faith is not a conditional contract where one believes only as long as life goes smoothly. Most people's faith is merely a set of beliefs based on personal convenience and past conditioning. True faith means remaining unperturbed by both good and bad experiences, recognizing that human judgments of 'good' and 'bad' are superficial and limited. He describes this state as a kind of 'absence' or 'emptiness' where one remains untouched by external events. He further explains that sensitivity and compassion are impossible as long as one is trapped in their own world of personal joys and sorrows. Only when the ego—the wall of 'me' and 'mine'—dissolves, can one truly connect with the world. Faith, in its highest sense, is the wisdom to realize that we do not know what is truly good or bad for us, leading to a state of total acceptance even in the face of death.
