Description

Acharya Prashant explains that fear is an inherent part of the human condition and the price one pays for following the path of the heart. He distinguishes between the absence of fear and freedom from fear, clarifying that freedom means remaining untouched and undefeated by fear even when it is present. True joy is found in not being defeated by fear and continuing to do the right thing despite shivering or trembling. He notes that the Bhagavad Gita was narrated on a battlefield because joy and liberation are meant for warriors who persist in the face of adversity. Regarding desire, Acharya Prashant states that while its intensity may decrease, desire will always exist. Liberation does not mean the total elimination of desire, but rather not being ruled by it. When one is no longer a slave to desire, they can interact with it playfully, like a parent carrying a child. He explains that saints do not fight or fear their desires; instead, they may whimsically embrace them because they are no longer intimidated by them. He concludes that the energy of desire is actually fueled by the resistance one offers to it; by removing resistance, the overwhelming power of desire naturally diminishes.
