Description

Acharya Prashant addresses the growing concern of declining human IQ and the phenomenon of 'brain rot' in an era of rapid technological advancement. He explains that the human brain, like any other organ, becomes dysfunctional if not exercised. By outsourcing thinking, decision-making, and even basic navigation to technology like AI and Google Maps, humans are allowing their cognitive faculties to atrophy. He warns that while technology is a powerful tool, it operates on human-provided data; therefore, if humanity is biased or unintelligent, AI will merely institutionalize and amplify those flaws. Technology, he argues, cannot illuminate the internal darkness of mankind and is often used to serve primitive, animalistic desires. He highlights a dangerous asymmetry in modern history: the common man possesses unprecedented freedom, wealth, and health, yet lacks the internal maturity to handle such power. He describes this as a form of 'historical nepotism,' where we inherit the fruits of centuries of scientific labor without having the internal discipline or struggle that traditionally fosters wisdom. We remain 'savages' or 'animals' at heart, freshly out of the jungle, but equipped with destructive tools like missiles and mechanized trawlers. This disproportionate external power, when coupled with internal darkness, leads to self-destruction and the devastation of the global ecosystem. To correct this fatal imbalance, Acharya Prashant emphasizes the need for internal growth to match external privilege. He asserts that true self-respect comes from deserving what one possesses. Regarding information, he advises that while tools like Google provide data, one must not outsource their consciousness or discretion to an inanimate system. The essence of spirituality, or 'Adhyatma,' lies in remembering oneself as the conscious user and exercising individual 'Vivek' (discretion) to elevate the self. Ultimately, he warns that if humans stop exercising their choice and consciousness, there will be no difference between a human and a stone, leading to an internal collapse of the species.
