Description

Acharya Prashant explains that the current mass extinction is anthropogenic, with species disappearing at a rate a thousand times higher than natural levels due to rising temperatures and carbon dioxide concentrations. He notes that the increase in human population from six to eight billion acts as a death warrant for thousands of other species because every new human birth leads to the condemnation of other organisms. He argues that while the Earth might sustain eight billion people, it cannot sustain the current levels of consumption, which are driven by a flawed philosophy that equates happiness and prosperity with material acquisition. He critiques the modern understanding of religion, stating that most people follow hearsay, tradition, and the vested interests of priests rather than the core wisdom of scriptures like the Vedas or the Bible. He distinguishes between science and spirituality, noting that science deals with the objective external world while spirituality addresses the internal state of the subject. He asserts that science is beautiful and necessary but requires inner wisdom to prevent it from becoming a tool for self-annihilation. Without understanding the self, humanity uses technological power destructively. Explaining Advaita or non-duality, Acharya Prashant describes it as the realization that external objects cannot heal inner restlessness. He argues that a relationship with the world based on desire is exploitative and leads to violence. Instead, the world should be viewed as a means to penetrate one's own interiority. When an individual achieves internal clarity through non-duality, they can use the products of science and technology for sublime purposes that elevate consciousness rather than for self-destructive consumption.
